‘Smear Campaigns Through Re-definiton, Association and Discrediting’
Our press statement titled as “Smear Campaigns Through Re-definiton, Association and Discrediting” has been released to the public at a press conference held in the center of the association by lawyer Metin Kutlubay, one of the administrators of UHIM.

Confrontation in politics can be carried out through not only political campaigns or parliaments but also illegal ways. Analyzing the process continuing through nonethical claims shocking all of us which are associated with a non-governmental organization recently, it is seen that a multi dimensional evaluation is required.
First, it should be noted that no crime whomever commits it should go unpunished and the criminal and whomever condones him should be punished. Following the developments in question, it is seen that a campaign is being conducted over the institutions and concepts, leaving the personality principle of a crime which is on trial aside. This semear campaign is not the first and only one conducted in our country. These campaigns which can be called as ‘dignity conspiracies’ are aimed at intervening value judgement of the society, harming the voluntary agencies carrying on humanitarian aid activities, injuring the foundations of belief such as zakat, sadaqah and any kind of donations which strenghten social solidarity and destroying the social memory through Islamophobic manipulations.
Through this kind of manipulative processes, the people get alienated from the concepts that they express themselves and becoming open to any kind of manipulations. From this perspective, it is quite obvious that the main target is not the crime itself, but the institutions and their ideology.
It is wide open that these manipulative activities will continue to target the main institutions and concepts well accepted in society in the upcoming period. At this point, these issues presented below are of high importance:
- The well-established institutions which are well accepted by the society should make their current structure more transparent and reviewable and their operations should be more qualified.
- The political authorities and non-governmental organizations should re-direct their relationships foreseeing the accusations, re-definition and association efforts that they can possibly be confronted.
- The administrators working in these institutions should act conscious of the values that they and their institution represent.
- Our nation should be informed about these manipulative processes that happened in the past as well.
